Clicking-On to Weight Reduction
Linda D. Walker

I have been overweight off and on all my life. My family has a history of being overweight, diabetes, and high blood pressure. In the past, I tried everything new on the market--the newest fad diet, the newest energy pill, the latest 'stars' answer to my weight problems; I have been there and done that! When I ballooned over 200 pounds, I tried the cabbage soup diet. Guess what? I "lost" 20 pounds (AGAIN) and shortly thereafter, I gained it all back, plus a few extra pounds. I didn't want to stay on this diet forever, you know? How many of us can stick to one "diet" all the time? My doctor, Dr. Mercer Lee III, after having diagnosed me with hypertension and finding a sugar problem referred me to an Internal Medicine Doctor, Dr. Albert Steele. He confirmed that I had early diabetes, hypertension, and GERD (acid reflux.) He gave me a usual standard diet to follow with warnings about my health.

Well, as usual, I placed that diet in a drawer for future reference (yeah, right) and I had just about decided that with all my family's medical history, I might as well give up. What was the point, right? According to medical research, I might as well since all the statistics were not in my favor anyway. Then something happened to me that totally changed my life.

I began learning and understanding positive thinking methods and going a little beyond in my research and discovered Weight Reduction in the process. I love to read (mostly Historical Romance novels about Native Americans and Time Travel) and I had often read about this thing called positive thinking but I had never actually applied the methods into my life. Once I began to apply some of those methods that I had learned combined with a program of my own, it made a world of difference in my mind and on my body. Beginning in October 1996, I have since reduced my weight by 100 pounds.

I visited Dr. Steele again and to say that he was astounded is putting it mildly. I told him about my idea concerning weight reduction and he was a bit skeptical. He put me through some blood tests to make sure that I was okay and he found my blood sugar was normal, blood pressure normal, and as for the GERD, no more stomach troubles! He questioned me thoroughly and became convinced about Weight Reduction and how it really can work for everyone. He said I had found the switch in my brain that everyone has to control their weight. I had clicked-on to Weight Reduction and I knew how and why.

With this technique, combined with a little daily walking (I couldn't keep still once I clicked-on!) and with no dieting at all (only positive aspects allowed in Weight Reduction)--I am now a Weight Reducer maintaining my weight with no deprivations of any foods. I am having a wonderful time in my life and because I do not diet, I never feel let-down or angry or guilty or any of the ways "losers" of weight feel when they are dieting. If we could all learn to let go of what I refer to as the 'junk and garbage,' we could all be on a more positive road to Weight Control. With a Smile!
