What's Brewin' in TV - 'Desperate Housewives' Sticking Around, 'Idol' Re-schedules and More!

  • It seems the 5 year jump in time has done well for the ladies of "Desperate Housewives" and now creator Marc Cherry is in talks to add on 2 more seasons with goals to make it to season 9 (they're already talking 100th episode celebration apparently).  No deals have been made yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if this one pulls through.  source
  • According to a source, American Idol has made and set some changes to their schedule including getting rid of Thursdays, but not cutting down on the total hours the show will run. Auditions will only last 3 weeks now while Hollywood week will last 2.  They also plan to promote the show with more "aspirational singers" as opposed to bad ones.  Oh, and they're bringing back wild card week where eliminated singers get a second chance.  source
  • We recently told you that a "Gossip Girl" spinoff was in the works and now the word is out on who it's going to center around.  Are you ready?  Lilly van der Woodsen (Kelly Rutherford) and Rufus Humphrey (Matthew Settle).  But not in the present.  It'll be about their young, budding relationship back in the day and with all new actors to play their younger selves.  I mean, the story is interesting on "Gossip". but I don't know if I could watch an entire hour of that....source
  •  For those keeping a close eye on the potential SAG strike, you'll be interested to know they set a date for the vote: January 2nd.  That's a fun way to ring in the new year, eh?  The results of the vote will be due in 3 weeks later.  source
