What's Brewin in TV - 'Beauty and the Geek' Gets a New Home While ABC and FX Get New Series

  • Beauty and the Geek was recently cancelled but not given a total death sentence as the creators shopped it around to other networks.  Now it seems MTV may be nabbing the popular reality show and changing it up a notch by adding celebs into the mix.  That means the average "geeks" would be vying for the attention of some sorta-famous ladies. You know, like reality stars and perhaps some Playmates.  source
  • ABC greenlit finally greenlit an old project called "The Middle" with Patricia Heaton to play the lead.  The show will follow the lives of a middle-class midwestern family as seen through the eyes of the mom (Heaton).  Originally, when the show was first in development back in '06, Ricki Lake was set to play the role.  source
  • FX has a new series in the works called "AR2" from the creator of "Prison Break" (Paul Scheuring) and director of "The West Wing" (Thomas Schlamme).  Scheuring says the project is "'Les Miserable' in modern America."  The series will be set in Michigan and focus on the struggle between corporate America (specifically the auto industry) and the common man (you might call him Joe-SixPack).  source
