Spike and Druscilla
SPIKEDRU
Bad vamps, both sired by Angel. Spike is William the Bloody and got the nickname by hammering railroad spikes through his victims. He has killed two Slayers. Druscilla is Spike's lover, a former nun driven mad and turned into a vampire by Angel in his soul-less days. They came to Sunnydale for a season to stir up trouble. Spike and Dru were lovers (Angel and Dru were, also, a long time ago). When Angel turned bad again, Spike really hated it because it was like he had to make sure that Dru was still his. In one episode Dru was trying to make herself well by doing a ritual to Angel. When she got it half done, it drained Angel (this was when he was still good) and Buffy had to save him. Spike got hurt in the incident and was in a wheelchair for awhile. When Buffy saved the world and killed Angel, she and Spike struck a deal… he helped her with Angel and she let he and Dru leave Sunnydale with the promise never to return. Spike blindsided Angel by pretending to be chair-ridden and gave Buffy the advantage, then he took off with Dru. He told Buffy he didn't really want the world to end, that's why he helped her. Spike returned this season, heartbroken because Dru had left him. He took Willow hostage and then Xander when he tried to save her. He wanted Willow to do a love spell on Dru. He eventually pulls himself together and heads back out to find Dru and win her back by being his old, violent self.

Kendra and Faith
FAITHKENDRAThere have been two other slayers on the show. The first was Kendra. When Buffy was trying to kill the Master (the king of vamps, basically), he killed her… for about two minutes (Xander gave her CPR and saved her). In the time she was dead, a new "chosen" slayer was summoned. This was Kendra. When Buffy came back to life, she killed the Master… she fought with him and his thugs for at least one season. She was in a few episodes then went back home, and was killed by Dru in a later episode. This summoned yet another slayer, Faith. Faith showed up when her watcher got killed. She doesn’t have a new watcher yet, so she is an ongoing character and is in about half the episodes as of right now. She and Xander had sex in one episode (she had not gotten the kill on a demon and was ready to burst, ran into Xander had sex with him and then said, "See ya, I got to shower").

Joyce Summers
Buffy’s mom is a single parent, working at an Art Gallery. She just recently found out that Buffy is a slayer, and that the weird occurrences around the Sunnydale area were really a reality. It's hard for her to deal with it but she tries, yet sometimes it frustrates and angers her that her daughter was "chosen" for this. She is sometimes jealous of the amount of time that Buffy spends with her watcher, but this may change as Joyce gets used to the slaying business.

Jenny Calendar
She is no longer on the show. She was a teacher for cover but was actually one of the gypsy people who cursed Angelus. She was there to keep tabs on Angel and she was working on the spell to make him good again once Buffy and he had made love and undone it. Angel found out that she was trying to restore his "goodness" and killed her in one episode. So the group of friends have trouble sometimes "liking" Angel. Especially Xander who was jealous of him for a long time. Jenny and Giles were becoming close and going to make love on the night Angel killed her, so Giles has a hard time with Angel now also.

Principal Snyder (the same guy who plays Quark on Deep Space Nine) and the Police Chief of Sunnydale seem to know that something fishy is going on. They cover up a vampire attack, calling it a "gang on PCP." In a later episode, the Police Chief threatens Principal Snyder with "the Mayor," saying Snyder isn't doing the job he was hired for (obvious something other than school principal).

The Mayor apparently knows all about the weird supernatural happenings in Sunnydale, and it seems he has sold his soul to more than a few demons in order to gain his present political position. He's got something nasty up his sleeve, but we haven't seen enough of him yet to know or guess what that might be.

The normal citizens of Sunnydale don't seem to notice the large body count, or realize that they're surrounded by vampires. Giles chalks it up to people being in denial of a sort, for example, explaining the vampire attacks away as gang activity. This suggests that since Sunnydale has always been on the Hellmouth, they consider it perfectly normal for mysterious deaths to happen there.
