What I Watched Last Night: Ghost Whisperer

Ghost Whisperer Somehow I managed to get caught up in this show about halfway through the last season and I gotta tell you, it's not half bad.  There's something kinda sweet and comforting about a super, unrealistically happy family in a magical little town. Add ghosts and voila, good times.

So, if you've been watching, you know in last week's season premiere that Melinda finally had her baby and then we time-warped 5 years into the future.  Sooo glad they chose to go that route because I was worried we'd be watching the happy couple cooing over their magical child the entire season.  A five year old makes it far more interesting.

So last night's episode, our ghost caper was that of a dead college student who thought her death was brought on by a chain e-mail from someone called "Sally Stitch".  Awesome, love the premise...even if it is a little outdated.  Or is it? Are kids today still buying into that stuff? I can't even remember the last time I got one.  I guess 'cause I haven't been a college student in...awhile.

This all lead to what appears to be a new story arc in the show.  The culprit who actually started the chain mail is a little girl living in the hospital with cancer. I think it was cancer...forgive me for the details.  Anyhow, although last night's story was solved and the ghosts went into the light as usual, we were still left wondering who the little girl is.

So the episode ended with us catch a glimpse of said little girl chatting with her ghost pal who's eyes and lips were sewn shut (see "Sally Stitch"). Kudos to the makeup artists on this one by the way.

What I liked about this episode?  When Ned was talking about believing in ghosts and how he wonders what else is out there that he can't see.  I'm hoping this is some foreshadowing to some other supernatural beings coming up this season (gag me if it's vampires though). I know it's gonna be all about Aiden and what his super powers may or may not be, but I'm hoping for a little more than that.

What I didn't like?  I want more Delia (Camryn Manheim)!  Seriously, that teeny little scene in the kitchen was almost embarrassing. Just make her a part of the episode or don't.  Preferably the former.

Should you watch Ghost Whisperer?  Honestly, this is a big "why not?"  I'm curious to see the direction they're heading with the new child in their life and praying it doesn't become a baby snooze fest...however, so far so good.
