Pitchman Billy Mays Dies at 50

Billy Mays, famous for his energetic infomercials (OxiClean for one) died unexpectedly at the age of 50. His wife found him unresponsive in their Tampa home on Sunday morning and he was declared dead at 7:45 am.

It's not yet clear exactly how he died but there is some speculation that it was due to a head injury he received on an airplane that made a rough landing.

"All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping," MyFox Tampa Bay quoted May as saying after the incident. "It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

"Although Billy lived a public life, we don't anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days," Deborah Mays said in a statement Sunday. "Our family asks that you respect our privacy during these difficult times."
