What's Brewin' in TV News - CBS Arranges Marriage, ABC Nabs Bruckheimer and More

  • CBS has a new reality show in the works that's raising some eyebrows.  The working title is "Arranged Marriage" and it features just that.  The show will introduce 4 adults within the age range of 25-45 who are a little desperate to get married but haven't had any luck.  Friends and family will select a spouse for them and the new couple will walk the aisle.  The series will then follow the marriage.  The worst part?  I'll probably watch. *sigh*  source
  • ABC made a big pilot move last Friday when they nabbed a new one from big time crime drama producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Danny Cannon.  The greenlighted show is currently untitled.  ABC also snagged a new one from McG ("Supernatural"), a high school musical drama called 'Limelight", and another from Mark Gordon("Grey's Anatomy") called "Empire State", a modern-day Romeo and Juliet.  source
  • ABC Family made some big decisions in it's lineup. First of all, say good-bye to "Kyle XY".  The show will finish out this season but won't be getting a new one.  In other news, the network has picked up three new series: comedies "Ruby and the Rockits" and "10 Things I Hate About You" and the drama "Perfect 10".  All 3 shows recieved 10 episode orders.  source
  • Bob Saget might be making a return to the small screen with "Surviving Suburbia", a show that tried to make it on the CW but the deal fell through.  Now it's time for another try on ABC...maybe. The comedy is a family sitcom (obviously not a big stretch for Mr. Saget) about a couple who's lives are turned around when the neighbors move in.  source
  • Amy Poehler's much anticipated new show has finally got a title: "Parks & Recreation."  The show is from "The Office" producers Greg Daniels and Mike Shur who once thought the show would be an "Office" spin off but changed it up when Poehler joined the cast.  "Parks" stars Amy as a "mid-level employee for a municipal parks and rec department in Indians who sees her job as the first step toward a grand career in politics."  source
