Broadcasters however, are not required to wait for the switch. 143 stations have already shut off their analog signal, 60 more are planning to do so before the original switch date and 276 will still make the transition on February 17th.
"I believe that a short delay in the transition date will gives us an opportunity -- with adequate resources -- to significantly improve the outcome for consumers," wrote acting FCC Chairman Michael J. Copps.
So, now you've got the time to get ready, but make sure you do. This will most definitely be the one and only delay for the switch.
