Were you worried about the upcoming switch to digital TV next month? Well you can start to relax. The Senate passed a bill yesterday to delay the changeover giving us all 4 more months to get ready.
You could potentially have until June 12 instead of Feb. 17.
Why did they decide on the delay? One reason, they ran out of $40 converter coupons earlier this month leaving 2.5 million Americans on a waiting list and as you know, these coupons are necessary in an economy where people are more concerned about how they'll buy this weeks groceries. Also, an estimated 20 million poor, elderly and rural households are just not ready for it.
John Rockefeller, Senate Commerce Chairman, said, "The Senate acted responsibly to give the Obama administration time to attempt to bring order to a mismanaged process."
