Today in TV News - Michael Crichton Dies, Election Night Sets Records and More

  • Michael Crichton, author of Jurassic Park and creator of ER, passed away today.  He lost his battle to cancer at age 66 in Los Angeles. source
  •  ABC's midseason series "Single With Parents" has been cut off.  Apparently there were creative differences between creator Kristin Newman and the rest of the production staff which lead to the decision of pulling the plug.  Alyssa Milano was set to star in the new comedy about a dysfunctional family.  source

  • The Simpsons found themselves in a little hot water when gay-rights group Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) were upset over a remark character Nelson Muntz said on Sunday night's show.  Apparently he referred to the Grand Pumpkin (it was the Halloween parody of The Peanuts "Great Pumpkin") as "super gay". source
