"It's incredibly gratifying to everyone at FX at this time when 'The Shield' -- the show that got our critically acclaimed original programming brand started -- is airing its final season, their loyal audience has embraced 'Sons of Anarchy' and made it a success," FX president John Landgraf says.
Also getting a pat on the back is CBS's The Mentalist. The network has just announced that it will be pickng up 6 additional scripts and it's just a matter of time before they give the go ahead on season 2 with ratings averaging around 15 million.
Entourage has also been handed it's season refill with HBO saying yes to a 6th. Production is slated to begin as soon as early 2009 and the episodes will air next summer. Apparently with a mix of Piven's 3rd Emmy win and winning back ratings after a falling season 4, HBO thinks the series has what it takes to survive.
And finally, TBS has decided we haven't seen enough of My Boys and we deserve an follow up on season 2's cliffhanger. The show will return for a third season sometime next year.
Turner's original-programming chief Michael Wright says. "'My Boys' is a quality show with a quality audience that continues to make the case that Turner is a true broadcast substitute."
