Tyler Perry (Madea's Family Reunion) stirred up some drama when he fired some writers from his TBS show House of Payne. The 4 writers, Kellie Griffin, Christopher Moore, Teri Brown-Jackson and Lamont Ferrel claim they were given the boot when they sought negotiations for a union contract which would give them better pay and benefits. However, Perry's lawyer says that's not the case and they were let go due to "the quality of their work."
The writer's guild along with the National Labor Relations Board is now filing claims against House of Payne LLC for unfair labor practices. They also accuse Tyler Perry Prod. of "negotiating in bad faith" with the Writer's Guild of America West in recent months.
Picketing is taking place tonight outside of Tyler Perry Studios during it's opening night event in Atlanta.
