RNC Possibly Delayed Due to Gustav

John McCain Holds Large Campaign Rally In Dayton, Ohio

A New York Times article today says the Republican National Convention might be shortened or delayed due to Hurricane Gustav and it's imminent approach on New Orleans. John McCain said the convention has changed "from a party event to a call to the nation for action".

Convention planners have decided it would be a bad idea to hold a "4 day party" while there are mandatory evacuations going on.  The prime time coverage hours will either be cut down or they will delay the whole thing all together for a few days.  If a delay happens, the convention will most likely be cut back to 2-3 days.

President Bush and Vice President Cheney have already stated that they will not be attending the convention on Monday because of the threatening storm.
