Chapter 6
“Mmmm.....I think I’m going to get some more coffee anybody
want?” Beth Wallace said getting up out of her seat. Everyone shook their head in disagreement as she walked off
to the counter.
The usual gang always hung out at the Book Cafe after late
nights: Hank and Beth, Antonio and Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald, and their girlfriends Whitney Russell and Kay Bennett.
Luis was a usual among the group as well but he seemed
to be missing in action this evening.
“Hey Miguel! Where has Luis disappeared to this evening?”
Hank said slipping his arm around Beth’s shoulder as she re-claimed her seat next to him.
“He came home spouted something about a girl and ran out!
So who knows, but I’m sure he’ll show up here sometime!” Miguel said kissing Kay on the cheek.
The group continued to chat when they saw the group of
people that walked through the doors of the cafe.
This late night crowd was a group that didn’t get along
with Hank and the gang. Ethan Crane with his fiancée Theresa and her sister Paloma. Also, Gwen Hotchkiss,
a close friend of Theresa, with her fiancée Chuck Wilson, and her brother Christian.
“Look what the cat dragged in!” Antonio boasted loudly.
“Well, well, well. If it isn’t the Fitzgerald boys and
Hank!” Ethan said in a cocky tone.
“Nice show your brother put on at the dance tonight! You
just better make sure that he stays away from Sheridan because she will be mine.” Christian threatened.
“You tell him!” Paloma whispered.
“Listen, I have no idea what you’re talking about Hotchkiss,
but I don’t take threats lightly!” Antonio said standing up, inches away from Christian.
“Oh yea?”
“Yea.”
“Well, then lets settle this brawl once and for all!” Hank
walked up.
“He’s right we’ve been at each others throats for years
now! Lets settle it once and for all in one all out fight!” Ethan said.
“Sounds good to me. If you’re up for the challenge pretty
boy!” Christian glared at Antonio.
“LightHouse Park tomorrow night after dark.” Antonio said
quickly.
“Excuse me boys is there any trouble?” Sam Bennett, Hank’s
brother, walked up.
“No, Chief Bennett we were all just leaving.” Miguel said
escorting Kay out of the Cafe.
“Hey Miguel!” Luis said bounding into the Cafe.
Christian snapped around and glared at Luis as he walked
out of the Cafe.
“Hey Luis. Miguel just left.” Sam said walking over to
Luis.
“What been going on here Sam?”
“I don’t know but I have a suspicion that each of our brothers
is cooking up something!” Sam said staring at Hank who was cuddling with Beth.
“Where have you been by the way?” Sam said.
“I took a trip to the moon and I’ll tell you a secret it’s
a lady up there! A very.....angelic lady.” Luis said dreamily. “Good evening Senor!” Luis said starting to head
out the door.
Sam gasped, “It is true about you and Sheridan!”
“I’m going to see her tomorrow and I can’t wait!”
“Luis, things aren’t tough enough between your families!”
“Tough I’m in love!”
“You aren’t frightened?”
“Should I be?” Luis said walking out the door.
“No, now I’m frightened enough for the both of you.” Sam
whispered.
