Chapter 17
She slowly walked into the small white hospital room very
cautiously she closed the door.
She shuttered when she saw his seemingly lifeless body
laying in the hospital bed connected to all kinds of machines.
She walked over to his bed slowly and pulled up chair.
She held onto his hand and leaned over close to his ear.
“Well, this wasn’t quite the reunion I was wanting but
it’ll do.” She whispered.
“I just wanted to tell you I know the truth about everything
and I wished I would’ve realized it sooner. I wouldn’t have ran out last night and your wouldn’t have crashed.
You would be fine and I would have you in my life.” she said as she began to get choked up.
“I love you.....so much. I never got to tell you that.
You made me believe in love and fate again. I realize that you are my destiny so you can’t leave me. You can’t
get away from me that easily!” She said kissing his cheek gently.
She leaned back up and looked into his opened eyes.
“I love you Resa.”
A brilliant smile crossed her face as she dropped her head
in her hands and started crying heavily.
Ethan just stared at her knowing she had to get it all
out of her system. When she finally calmed down, she lifted her head and wrapped her arms around his neck.
They sat there and held each other silently showing all
of their emotions without words.
1 week later
Ethan kissed away a spot of ice cream that fell onto Theresa’s
chin as they walked along the wharf.
Ethan’s recovery had been remarkable although he had been
left with many bumps and browses. Theresa was by his side the whole time.
“Did I tell you I love you today?” Ethan whispered into
her ear.
“Hmmm maybe.” Theresa said mischievously.
“Well I do.”
“I know.” She said kissing him.
“Can I tell you something?” Theresa said.
“Anything.”
“Do you know how I know now that we were connected by fate?”
“How?”
“My dream.”
Ethan looked at her confusingly.
“I had a dream that you died but I knew that you loved
me. So, when I woke up and found out that you were in an accident it just seemed to fit.” Theresa said clutching
his hand.
“It does fit.” He said kissing her hand.
“So, is this our happy ending?” Ethan said wrapping his
arms around her waist as they watched the Maine sun set over the ocean.
“Yea it is.”
There isn’t always a happy ending to these stories but
for Ethan and Theresa there was a happy ending this time.
