Chapter 6
Theresa placed the last stamp on the last manila envelope
as she handed all of the envelopes to the FED-X messenger.
“Thank you Ms. Lopez-Fitzgerald.”
“Thank you.” She said as she shut the door of her office
and looked around at the finished product.
“Resa is officially in business!” She said excitedly out loud to herself.
She looked at her watch: 7:30p.m. She had gotten ready
at the office so she could get all of her sketches finished up.
She checked herself out in the mirror one more time. She
straightened out her black pants and her red turtleneck sweater and her long black coat that fell to her ankles,
“Well, here goes nothing.” She said grabbing the picnic
basket and locked up her office.
Gwen knocked on the door of the Crane Mansion. “I’m going
to do this......” She kept repeating over and over to herself.
“Gwen! Come in.” Pilar said opening up the door.
“Hello Pilar. Where is Ethan?” Gwen said handing Pilar
her coat.
“I’m sorry Gwen Ethan has gone to New York City on business.
I thought he would’ve have talked to you about it?” Pilar said hanging up her coat.
“I just returned from the city. I really need to talk to
Ethan.”
“Ethan should be back tomorrow.” Ivy Crane said walking
down the tall stairs into the foyer.
“Oh well thank you Ivy.”Gwen said disappointedly.
Ivy starred at her skeptically, “Would you like to stay
for dinner?”
Gwen was about ready to decline the invitation when, “Gwen
whats this?” Ivy said grabbing her hand.
Gwen looked down and saw that her ring was still turned
down.
“Oh my. It must have fallen that way.” Gwen choked out.
Fixing the ring back.
Ivy could see right through that lie.
“So how about dinner?” Gwen said heading for the dining
room.
“Ethan Crane?” Theresa yelled out Ethan as she saw him
standing at their meeting place.
Ethan turned around laughing. “Ms. Lopez-Fitzgerald?” He
took her hand and kissed it.
She shivered at his lips touching her skin.
“Whats that?” Ethan said looking at the picnic basket.
She grabbed his hand and dragged him to an empty spot in
the park. She pulled out a blanket and laid it down.
“I made us a picnic.” She said pulling a couple of sandwiches
and grapes and crackers out the basket along with the 2 bottles of mineral water.
“I love it Resa!” He said sitting down and diving into
the food.
She just sat and smiled at him as he ate his food.
‘Maybe their is more to this world than Noah Bennett’ She
thought to herself.
Ethan noticed her staring at him. He laughed gently, “What
Resa?”
She continued to smile,”Nothing.”
“Than eat!”
Ethan slowly slipt his hand into hers as they admired the
beautiful park.
She gripped his hand and noticed the stars on this night.
“Theresa.” Ethan said stopping and grabbing her other hand.
“You never told me why you stopped believing in fate.”
She took a deep breath, “I was in love with a man practically
my entire life and I put him on a pedestal. I thought he was perfect. He finally noticed me and we were together
for 2 years and then I went away to college. He moved to London finally became a doctor and met the woman of his
dreams. End of story.”
“Wow. Who was he?”
“Noah Bennett. Ever since him I’ve vowed never to let that
happen to me again.”
He placed his hands on her face,”It won’t happen again
because you’re strong and independent.”
“Ethan.....ever since you kissed me that night....”
“Shh.....I’m still sorry for that.....but I’m not sorry
you know? I haven’t been able to stop thinking of you since the first time my eyes found your beauty.”
“I know I can’t stop thinking about you either. You are
different than any man I have ever met in my life. To good to be true almost.” She said giggling nervously. “I’m
actually surprised you’re not already taken.” She said jokingly kissing him on the cheek.
“Well, Theresa I.......I have something to tell you.”
“What?”
“I’m engaged.”
Her big brown eyes grew bigger in amazement, “You’re what?!?!”
