The little dark haired girl sat at the miniature table. She was having a tea party with several of her favorite
dolls. A small hand lifted a cup to her lips, drinking pretend tea.
She lifted her face to some unknown person in front of her. A huge, warm grin graced her features. She had striking
brown eyes that sparkled as she giggled with delight.
"Want to have some tea, Mommy?" she asked.
"Sheridan, we're going to be late for the party."
Luis' voice startled Sheridan. She walked to the door and called to him downstairs.
"I'm coming Luis!" she yelled.
She turned around to view the empty room. The dark haired child was gone with no indication that she was ever there
in the first place. Sheridan turned again and exited the room.
Luis was downstairs waiting for her. As she descended the stairs, Luis' breath caught in his throat. She looked
absolutely stunning in her light blue party dress.
"You look gorgeous, darling," he told her with an accent that reminded her of Mr. Howell, the millionaire
on Gilligan's Island.
She responded in a sophisticated British accent, "Why thank you, dear. How kind of you to say."
"What was taking so long?" he asked in his normal voice.
"I was just distracted by something," she responded slyly, thinking of the little girl and her tea party.
"What was it?"
It was obvious that she wasn't going to tell him, so he persued it no further. Sheridan approached Luis and he
offered her his arm. She took it and they were off to the Harmony Country Club.
It had been nearly two months since Watts kidnapped Clara. When the police got to the house, Brian Watts had committed
suicide by turning his own gun on himself. He would hurt no more girls.
Now this party was for Sheridan and Luis to thank them for all they did to get Rachel and Clara back. The two girls
would be their with family and friends.
Even though it was the middle of summer, the weather outside was cool, so the party was extended to the garden
When Luis and Sheridan entered the garden, they looked around and gasped at what they saw. It was very familiar
to them, even though neither of them had been there before. It was the same garden from the dream that they had
Not exactly knowing what this revelation meant, they glanced over at each other and shared a secret simile that
caused others to wonder its meaning. But it would be forever their secret.
Sheridan was having a wonderful time taking with the McHughs and spending time with her own friends and family.
However, the little girl from her vision never strayed far from her thoughts. It had been the second time she had
seen this child and her tea party. The first time happened years ago when she thought her life was about to end
It was starting to get cold. The house hadn't any reliable heating and it wasn't working now. She had no blanket
or coat, nor did she have anything to shelter her body from the cold.
She didn't always mind the cold. It was an indication that she was alive. There was no way of knowing how long
she would remain so.
She was thinking about the death she knew to be coming, when in her mind's eye, she held an image of a young girl
with dark hair and brown eyes. She was having a tea party with her dolls and stuffed animals.
She looked up and said, "You can't die. If you do, how will I live? How can I ever exist?"
It was the vision of the little girl that gave Sheridan a reason to fight. When Watts opened to door to give her
a bathroom break, she got ready to make her move.
What Watts didn't realize, was that he had missed a pair of scissors when getting rid of anything that might aid
her escape. Sheridan didn't even know they were there, until she had a feeling that she should look for something
that had fallen behind the toilet. Low and behold, there they were. She grabbed them.
When she walked out of the bathroom, Watts reached to take her arm in his hand. Sheridan's hand tightened on the
scissors as she lifted them into the air. She brought them down and before Watts knew what happened, stabbed them
in his arm. Stunned, Watts screamed in pain and loosened his grip.
She wrenched her arm free and ran as fast as she could out the house. She ran across the street to the safety of
a neighbor's home. He called the police and Watts was caught and arrested.
The feel of Luis' hand on her back brought her back to the present. She leaned into him and wrapped her arm around
his waist. Sheridan looked into his eyes. Eyes that looked amazingly like the girl's in the vision. Sheridan smiled
lightly to herself.
