1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cups shortning
1/4 cup ICE water
Add shortning to flour and chop with a knife. Add the ice water, stir with a fork to form dough. Roll out thinly
on a floured board. Roll it out twice for best results.
No one can make pie crust like gram. I have tried and tried but I just
can't master it. Although I come close, must be her touch!
Extra hint from jeaniej:
Ice water is DEFINITELY a key. I've learned to BARELY have the
dough together before I start rolling it out...that way I don't handle it so much! Also, if you can get wax paper
to stick to the counter (try wetting the counter first, before putting down the wax paper), roll your dough on
it...then, you can pick up the wax paper and flip the rolled out dough into the pan, without as much of a chance
of it falling apart...works for me (SOMETIMES!) anyway...
