Recommended: "Outlook Spam Filter" -- Real Email Relief At Last!

Spam is under control! What a relief!

We get, literally, hundreds and hundreds of spam messages a day. Way over a thousand a day between the two of us. Annie often gets over a thousand in her inbox alone. Out of these hundreds and hundreds, again literally, only a small handful are actually useful or wanted messages.

As I'm sure you all know too well, it takes a lot of time -- that is, it wastes a lot of time -- just to sort through and find the few messages that matter.

We've tried a few antispam solutions including whitelists and blacklists and building huge sets of mail "rules". All require a huge amount of work to get any level of satisfactory filtering but none really even come close to providing true, trustworthy spam relief.

Good news at last! Here's one that actually works! And works so well that we're going to recommend it here. It's called "Outlook Spam Filter" by SoftLogica.

(Editor's note: in 2006 "Outlook Spam Filter" changed it's name to "SpamAid". Same great product but with fewer trademark issues. Still reachable at the same URL :-)

Outlook Spam Filter is an add-on (or plug-in) for Microsoft Outlook® email client and personal information manager.
Very easy installation instantly gives you advanced protection against spammers and unsolicited emails. And I mean instantly!

The program uses Bayesian filtering technology that identifies about 97% of incoming spam messages as soon as you plug it in. As soon as you start to use it, the program automatically "learns" about the kinds of mail that you need to keep and the kinds that you don't want. We've found that it very quickly gets to 99% or better success at telling the difference between our good mail and what we consider to be unwanted spam.

Outlook Spam Filter seamlessly integrates into the Microsoft Outlook® workspace by adding a new menu in the email set and a new, optional toolbar. It scan all of your incoming mail and quarantines away junk emails. Caught spam is placed in a special 'Spam' folder under your inbox so that you can review it later. (You need to scan here for "good" mail, especially when the program is new. When you find wanted mail in your "Spam" box, just click the "Mark as Good" button on the toolbar and two things happen: Outlook Spam Filter "learns" that this is good mail so that it won't happen again, and this message along with all from the same user is moved back to your Inbox. Dealing with unwanted mail that it didn't catch is just as easy: click the "Mark as Spam" button and the program learns that both the sender and the contents are unwanted. You won't see that message in your inbox again.

If you already have Outlook on your PC, download the free trial of Outlook Spam filter and give it try. After a few days you see that at $29, this is a great bargain and a huge relief. Unfortunately there's not a version for Outlook Express (yet?) but this program works so well it may be worth moving to Outlook just to be able to put it to work for you.

(Editor's note: in 2006 "Outlook Spam Filter" changed it's name to "SpamAid". Same great product but with fewer trademark issues. :-)
