THE GENERAL'S DAUGHTER
Directed by Simon West

Goldman,
based on the novel by Nelson DeMille
Starring John Travolta, Madeline Stowe,
James Woods, James Cromwell, Timothy Hutton
My Advice: Wait and rent it
Rating: out of
Murder, intrigue, a plot most foul. And, if I have to tell the
truth, at moments I felt a movie most foul.
After the murder of the daughter of an Army base commander with
big political aspirations is discovered raped and then murdered on her military base, Warrant Office Paul Brenner
(Travolta) is summoned upon to decode the mystery surrounding her death.
The south is hot and muggy, the cast was frequently muggy (or
should I say mugging) and, with the exception of the talented Travolta and a marvelous turn by James Wood, I felt
oddly let down. Although the plot built some marvelous twists and turns, and you were left guessing until the very
end, some of this movie seemed to sloth and plod along a bit too slowly for my taste.
Let's use the old KISS system, shall we?? Who killed the General's
Daughter? Um, who cares.
