And now that I've read more about this teacher and these kids... it's clear to see that this was (again) distorted and blown all out of porportion by those who just want to bring Obama down.
This was only part of a series on presidents- no "indoctrination", no "brain-washing", no evil intent. No glorifying Obama or thinking he's our "Saviour". No Hitlerian attempt to command obediance.
Nope. Just a boring, routine classroom expression of respect for presidents.

Reines, I went through elementary school in the sixties.
When we were much more respectful of our Presidents than we are today.
And I don't remember one time, where my class was gathered together to sing a song in praise of the President.
This would strike me as odd, no matter who the President was.
It may well be an isolated incident.
Unfortunately, it still fuels the "indoctrination" and "brainwashing" fires.
If I was a card carrying, donation making, loyal Obama follower...
I would still be at school protesting this if my child was involved.

But that's the whole point- it wasn't a song in praise of the president! If anything, it was a song about civic duty... and what all of us can do to "live" our country's values.
The rightwing... who are looking for anything... anything, to lambast Obama on (just as they did during the Clinton years) are taking innocuous stuff like this and distorting it... to get just the reaction you had.
And another thing... I can remember hearing about President Kennedy when I was in elementary school! HIs laudable notion of "ask not what your country can do for you... but what you can do for your country" was and should be inspiring to all kids... and adults, of course!
C-mon, mtj... really- this is all nonsense.

Here are the lyrics to the "song".
    Discuss amongst yourselves.

Mmm, mmm, mmm, Barack Hussein Obama
He said all should lend a hand to make the country strong again.
Mmm, mmm, mmm, Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must be fair today, equal work means equal pay.
Mmm, mmm, mmm, Barack Hussein Obama
He said take a stand, make sure everyone gets a chance.
Mmm, mmm, mmm, Barack Hussein Obama
He said red, yellow, black and white, all are equal in his sight.
Mmm, mmm, mmm, Barack Hussein Obama.
    Yeah! Barack Hussein Obama.
Hello, Mr. President, we honor you today
For all your great accomplishments, we all do say hooray.
Hooray, Mr. President, you are No. 1
The first black American to lead this nation
