blog Monday Moment - On thin ice.

Someone was clearly up to no good at the park last night. We found this trash can (which is out in the middle of a frozen pond in case you couldn't tell from the angle) and a number of other random items thrown out onto the ice.

Definitely a fleeting moment caught here as either the ice will melt and the can will float away, or someone will be dumb enough to try and retrieve it. I imagine if the latter happens, I'll return to find a person sized hole. Too bad the pranksters threw the emergency ice ladders out there too.

    So what's your "Monday moment"?

Again this week, the image isn't all that great, but the moment was swell! We have deer in the back (and the front) all the time, but this is the oldest male I've seen close. His little antlers are 8-10 onches long. Usually, we don't see the boys after the antlers are more than a couple of pumps on their heads.

    Oh Annie!
You have deer visiting you too.
Right after I post my Monday Magic moment...I will post what "Deer Magic" means.
    My submission for today...
A nest from last Spring, still nestled into the branches of a Winter tree.
A reminder to me, that in just a few short months,
baby robins will be among us.

(And a note before posting: All my deer visitors seem to be female. They are the same size as your guy, but no antlers. I would imagine that is a message from The Sacred Feminine. Although I did see a full grown male stroll by one evening, who was as big as a cow. Perhaps he is responsible for the plethora of young females I'm seeing these days. )

Now, about Deer Magic and Deer Totems...

Woodland dreams of intuition come with the graceful deer.
I greet you, brothers of the forest.
Your gift of magic will brighten my life.
    Transformation will come to me.
Like you, I stand listening to the drum beat of life,
Poised to follow my guiding spirits.

    Gentleness and Innocence
Deer teaches us to use the power of gentleness
to touch the hearts and minds of
wounded beings who are in our lives.

Don't push towards change in others,
rather gently nudge them in right direction
with the love that comes from a Deer totem.

When a Deer totem shows up in your life,
a new innocence and freshness in about to be awakened.
There is going to be a gentle lure of new adventures.
There will be an opportunity to express the gentle love
that will open new doors for you.

It must be nice to look out and see deer. Years ago my in-laws had a farm in Ohio. I loved to visit, we seen deer, wild turkeys, all kinds of birds, rabbits, squirrels, and a beautiful red fox my FIL fed nightly. I live in the city, houses so close together you can hear what is being said from house to house in the summer with the windows open. I have a neighbor with a huge ugly stone horse in the yard I can look at, lol.

mtj, that is lovely! I'll accept it gladly. New adventures, open doors and a gentle love? What could be better.

boo, it is nice to see the deer and other animals outside, so close. Last year, I had a crush on a "whistle pig" which is just a cooler name for a groundhog. But he wasn't around this year and now he's asleep somewhere. I've only seen one fox. We had a GIANT snapping turtle moseying through once, very scary to me but a gal friend tool a hoe and "offered" him the handle, which he bit, so we could get him back to the swamp. Lottsa skunks. I think there are others, but can't remember now. Ry might... hey Ry, remember the bee swarm?
