I'm Boycotting CVS -- as they limit opioid prescriptions to *7* days!

CVS is sticking their ineffectual noses into a problem and coming up with a STUPID "solution"

They've announced that they will only fill prescriptions for opioids up to 7 days -- even for certified chronic pain patients.
This creates hardship, hassles, burns unnecessary amounts of gasoline, and is burdensome harassment of the patients, their families, their caregivers, and their doctors.

The dimwits at CVS take no (zero) account of the facts that:
-- every prescription must be "new" and requires a doctor visit.
-- every doctor visit requires a new charge to the patient.
-- the number of Palliative Care doctors is limited and they are becoming overloaded because GP's won't prescribe for chronic patients
-- Palliative Care doctors are thin on the ground -- even here in New York, outside the city, it is an hour drive each way, just to get what is already limited to 30 days.

Shame on CVS! Shame on them!

They're just preparing you for when the government runs everything. Welcome to socialism.

I for one think it's a shame what draconian measures we are willing to undertake in the name of the war on drugs, the judicial and prison system, drug testing for everything from employment to food stamps, to policies concerning Sudafed and prescription drugs.

Meanwhile a "tough on crime" party that claims to be people of responsibility and discipline constantly sides with the LEAST disciplined of people when it comes to sex crimes.

Isn't this just a matter of switching pharmacies (if you don't like what CVS has done).
I don't care for CVS and have not used them to fill prescriptions for a long time.

I have no idea what sex crimes have to do with opiate prescriptions.

LOL. That was a little confusing to me as well. (I'm assuming it's just digression on a separate issue.)

I forgot, we're not allowed to compare and contrast things in your presence, like how our society and its associated government treats two different sets of criminals. What CVS is doing is just another manifestation of the puritanical attitude about drugs to the point that even people on prescribed legal drugs are treated like potential criminals, meanwhile rapists like Brock Turner walk free.

I'm surprised you didn't question why this is the government preparing you for socialism.

No one said you "weren't allowed" to compare and contrast.
I simply said I had no idea what one thing had to do with another.
Mike expressed confusion on that point as well.

CVS is launching a mis-guided attempt to keep people from becoming addicted to prescription opiates.
What they fail to realize is that people who are addicted or heading in that direction, will simply get their prescriptions filled elsewhere.
My guess is that CVS will lose business and do nothing to affect opiate addiction.

There is nothing "puritanical" about the recognition that there is a startling rise in addiction to opiates in this country.
However, I'm not sure that what CVS is doing will deter that in any way.
I guess CVS was "puritanical" when they stopped selling cigarettes too.

I'm not talking about *JUST* CVS's new policy, I'm also talking about how the drug war has warped society's attitudes towards drugs, tack on to that the conservative belief that a belief that forced abstinence is the solution to all of life's problems. It's caused our society to be less free (IE: prisons/courts, drug testing) and this is just another manifestation of it.
