I saw this last night and I really liked it. However, I think a lot of people will not. Ryan Gosling plays a "driver-for-hire" who gets involved in a bunch of shady stuff ... but the film is much more about the atmosphere than the plot details.
The movie has a strong 80's feel ... if you like movies like "Thief" or "To Live and Die in L.A." you'll probably like this. It is the most "Michael Mann" non-Michael Mann film I have seen! It has a slow-burn pace punctuated by moments of intense violence.
I totally got what they were going for, but I can also see how people would hate it. I didn't think it was perfect, but I enjoyed every second of it. I'd give it a B+.
