After watching this movie last night, I've now seen all 10 of the Best Pic nominees this year. Woo hoo! And I think this is deserving of its nod - it is the kind of movie the Academy likes.

I liked the movie. I didn't love the movie. It is completely carried by Carey Mulligan's performance - she is charming and witty and has that "it" quality on screen that will make her a star. Peter Sarsgaard is also good as the older man who sweeps her off her feet.

But even though the story and performances were good and I can recognize that it was a "top tier" movie this year, it didn't connect with me like some of the other films I saw this year. Good movie - I'd give it a "B" - definitely worth a watch.
