According to LOST producers the statue represents Taweret. In ancient Egypt this deity was tied to rebirth, and for rebirth you need death first.
So on LOST island we have witnessed Jacob's killing, and I now ask myself if there could be his rebirth, or other LOST island inhabitants' rebirth in season 6?
Of course it is my love for ghost stories that makes me write this. We alll know the film called "The Others", one of my favorite movies.

Where did you hear that Taweret was tied to rebirth? Everything I can find is that Taweret is the protector of pregnant women and fertility. I've found nothing on "rebirth".

Just google the terms Taweret rebirth, and you will have a whole list of sites on this topic.

OK, found it! At one point, it even said she was seen as helping to guide people into the afterlife.
I still don't understand why they misrepresented the image of Taweret so badly.
Perhaps it was to throw people off track.
The image that we saw at first glimpse, was much more the image of several other Egyptian Gods.
I'm wondering if we saw the birth of Ethan, because he was the last baby born on the island, before the "fertility curse" took hold.
I'm also wondering what that fertility curse has to do with the big picture of the story.
Again, more will be revealed.

Jacob was burned. WIll he be a "phoenix" and be reborn in season 6? Thanks to Taweret, of course, as Taweret is a deity of rebirth. And the Phoenix has, anyway, the power to be reborn from ashes.

if jacob is a phoenix, though, why would esau (or the anti-jacob) have kicked him into the fire? wouldn't he know that he would be reborn? it seems like he wants him to stay dead instead of trying to speed the rebirth.
I think that what will eventually contribute to Jacob's "victory", is that he knows more than Esau does.

So in your opinion Jacob will win over Esau. You mean that LOST wil have a happy ending, right?
