Wow... I totally didn't see that one coming.
The case wasn't really interesting at all in comparison to the rest of the story. All though the case did say something about House's state of mind. Normally he'd jump at the chance to prove other doctor's wrong or to point out yet again that everybody lies (even if it kills them).
The more important case of the show was why?? I guess we will never really know why Kutner did it. He always seemed easy going. Of course the point of the whole thing is that there isn't always an obvious why.
The bigger why is why did they cut Kutner out of the show? He was my favorite of the three new characters. I think I've been overexposed to 13 to the point of disinterest and I was never a big fan of Taub. All these television producers/writers think it's fun when you "shake things up". It's not fun. (I'll leave my specific complaints for other boards... *cough*Hanson*cough*...)
I don't know how the rest of the season will pan out. I don't know about the preview for next week. All the sudden Cameron is interested in House again? I guess we shall see where they go from here.
I am about as disgusted with the HOUSE writers for this, as I am with
drug addict Hart Hanson...for this effed up turn of events in the HOUSE story line.
I was responding to an email from my son when tonight's show started, so I missed the beginning.
When my husband came out and told me that Kutner had killed himself, I looked at my husband like he was from Mars.
That just did NOT compute.
It still doesn't.
The Cameron/House attraction is about as stupid as the Roxie/Angela bit.
I'm going to be back to not watching television sooner than later if this crap continues.
Okay, I found out why they did it.
Still in all, they could have just had him "leave" instead of killing him off.
In early 2009, Penn was offered the position of Associate Director of the White House Office (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_House_Office) of Public Liaison in the Obama administration, which he accepted, necessitating that his House (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_%28TV_series%29) character be "killed off"

Yeah I spent the first half of the episode wondering if it was all going to turn out to be some crazy House dream sequence or something. I kept thinking "no way this just doesn't make any sense".
What does make sense now is why he left. But you're right, they should've had him quit his job or something not shoot himself.
Here is a link to an article that contains an interview with Kal Penn and the producers of the show.
(I think they have been hanging around with Hanson).

"I guess obviously stirring the pot brings something to any show"
Why? What does it bring? How can taking a show with good ratings and stirring the pot by killing a favorite cast member off bring something to the show? We couldn't have left the door open for Kutner to return one day? It doesn't sound like Penn is committed to the White House for life. Next thing you know we'll have rotating doctors on House's team because that's a fun way to stir the pot.
I think I'm going to start an anti-stir the pot campaign lol. The slogan will be "Leave our shows alone". It's not anti-change, but there is definately a difference between making a few small changes and this stirring the pot trend that is falling on all my favorite shows.

Oh, sign me up, please.
Kutner mysteriously disappearing would have been far better than suicide.
I will never understand writers that develop characters that their viewers come to like very much and then yank said characters away.
It makes no sense.
In this case, the actor was leaving for another pursuit, but the method of writing him off the show was just deplorable.
And unbelievable.
If 13 had killed herself, it would be understandable.
Kutner...no way.

Yeah I could see 13 doing it with the death sentance hanging over her head. Even Taub as his life has been kind of a roller coaster of events lately. But Kutner seemed so stable of a character that it doesn't make any sense. I think it was Penn who was saying something about shouldn't we indicate that Kutner's not happy. It seemed to surprise him as well. Once again a plot doesn't make sense to the viewers nor does it make much sense to the actors. I think there's some drug sharing going on in Hollywood...
Kutner was the most stable one of all the interns.
To write the story that he killed himself is ludicrous.
Hello dim-bulb writers.
We follow your stories.
We invest in your characters.
This story line was not what we wanted and it was a big, huge
trick f*ck.
I don't watch your show because I want you to "stir the pot".
I watch your show because your characters mean something to me.
Thanks...NOT...for the world's worst way to divest yourself of a character
who had moved onto something else.
Kal Penn and Eric Mulligan are having a drink somewhere right now saying
WTF???
