I liked the first episode better than the second. I can't believe Hurley. Ana Lucia told him not to get arrested, so what does he do? Gets arrested! Ha ha, I loved his line to Sayid, "Maybe if you ate more comfort food, you wouldn't kill so many people". That sounds like a good motto. I'm going to adopt that one. :-)

Time travel is a great way to bring people (former characters) back to the show. I think they're going to use this to tell us the story of the island. I'm sure they'll end up travelling to key points in the history of the island. What I don't get is why did the Others disappear from where Locke was? Are they part of the island? Obviously, a couple of times, they were in a time period where the survivors were also existing, so there must have been two of them on the island at the same time. Like 2 Sawyers, for example, when they were standing next to the imploded hatch... this one and the one wherever he was at that time. There had to be 2 Juliets... one that was there by the imploded hatch and one that was still with the Others. So... why didn't the Others just stay where Locke was? I'm confused about that.

When they left the island, all 5 of the adults thought Ben was a bad guy. Sun apparently blames him for Jin's death and wants to kill him. Kate and Hurley never did think Ben was a good guy, so it's not hard to figure they'd still think that. The puzzling one is Sayid. He started working for Ben and was teamed up with him. What has changed his mind to make him tell Hurley not to do what he says? Jack came to the conclusion a while ago that they need to go back, so he has to trust the only person he figures can get them there... and that would be Ben.

With the Oceanic 6 being 3 years into the future, I think this will be a great way to get Walt back into the series. They can now explain why he's older and taller.

I'm sure you noticed the old lady at the end of episode 2 was the same old lady Desmond met in the jewelry store, right? She's the one that told him it was his destiny to go to the island and push the button... that he couldn't change the future... and that he needed to break up with Penny. Anyway, last night she was calculating something. I think she was calculating where the island is. Now, Faraday told Desmond he needed to find his mother because they were all in trouble on the island. I'm thinking that old woman will turn out to be Faraday's mom. I haven't read that anywhere, but it's just a hunch.

I'm wondering who wanted to find out if Aaron was really Kate's son. Who would question that? Who would want to know? I'm wondering if Sun isn't behind that. I don't think she can be trusted now. She's out for vengeance. I don't know why she'd team up with Widmore. If you think about it, he's just as, or maybe more, responsible for Jin's death (if he's dead) than Ben. It was his freighter and his hired army that blew up that freighter.

Interesting idea about the jewelry store lady being Faraday's Mom.
I'm not sure I'm getting the moving forward and backward in time.
I'm also not sure that Ben has the best interest of the O6 in mind.
Ben seems to have an agenda that has nothing to do with them.
I think you are dead on about Sun, Thor.
I think she is the one who sent the men to Kate's house.
And I think she holds a HUGE grudge against Kate for not getting Jin on the helicopter.
Locke seems to somehow be existing in two separate time zones (or maybe three).
And Faraday's story just keeps getting more and more interesting.
Great start to the new season.
I'll probably have more comments after I watch again.

After reading Vozzek's article on DarkUFO's website, things are a little clearer for me. He thinks maybe Ben sent those men to Kate's door, knowing she would run. This would start convincing her she has to return to the island. I don't know... it's either Ben or Sun. I'm undecided. I think Ben doing it makes more sense. He does have Jack in his pocket and should be able to get ahold of Kate through her phone. Maybe he even expected Kate to contact Jack when she ran. She almost did.

Then, he points out that it's the people moving in time, not the island. It appears Alpert is not moving in time because he tells Locke that "he'll" be moving again soon. Same with Ethan. He's going to shoot Locke and doesn't seem to be fazed by the white light.

If you're interested in the article, here's the address. It's long, but interesting. http://darkufo.blogspot.com/2009/01/things-i-noticed-because-you-left-and.html

Then another thing keeps bothering me. They keep saying things can't be changed, but can't they? Faraday travelled back to when they were building the Orchid. Why? Was it just to study and observe? But, anyway, isn't just him being there changing things? What about him talking to Desmond and telling him to visit his mom? Doesn't that change things? If he hadn't done that, would he have ever visited Faraday's mom? It would have never happened, right? So... I just don't believe they can't change things. Also, Ms. Hawking (the old lady who told Desmond about his destiny) seemed pretty worried when it looked like Desmond was going to marry Penny. Why? If he couldn't change not ever going to the island, what difference would it make? Again, I have to come to the conclusion that the past can be changed.

This show is such a mind-warper.
Idle thoughts...
If Sun wants to kill Ben, the ONLY way she could be convinced to go back to the island is if she believes that Jin is alive and there.
I'll be really interested to see how Desmond finds Faraday's mother, who she is and what she tells him.
That seems pivotal to the story line.
How does Richard know that the next time he sees Locke, he (Richard) isn't going to remember him?
And wasn't a compass one of the things that little boy Locke was given to "choose from"?
I'm now even more interested in Faraday's back-story than ever.
I'm also interested in who the "Other Others" are.
And what did Ben stash in the air vent?

Ha ha, it really is!

Someone pointed out to me on another message board that Faraday told Desmond to find his mother at Oxford. If Ms. Hawking is Faraday's mom... she was in L.A. last night. Maybe she isn't his mother. I guess we'll find out soon enough who his mother is.

I don't know how Richard knew he wouldn't know Locke the next time he'd see him. With time travel, it could be that he's already lived through Locke appearing to him with the compass and the gunshot wound. That's why it gets so confusing! Or... maybe he knows how this time travelling works, that it goes to the future, then the past... or is in some way a pattern to it.

I can't remember if a compass was one of the things he was given to choose from. I'd have to look it up. It probably is. OK, I checked at Lostpedia and it is one of the objects.

I don't know what that was Ben had in the air vent, either.

I'm really confused, I also don't get why Faraday said you can't change the past. Then tells Desmond to go find his Mother. Did we see other others? I thought the people throwing fire at Sawyers group was Darma. I will watch it again this weekend with my husband. Maybe I'll catch something I missed.

I think by other others, MTJ is talking about the army people that attacked Juliet and Sawyer. Is that what you mean?

I guess I figured they were part of Dharma, too, but I'm not sure.

I don't think they are Dharma.
I don't think Dharma would be using flaming arrows.
That kind of weaponry is totally "Other".
The trouble is, we don't know what time frame we are dealing with when Juliet, Sawyer and all the extras got attacked.
And can I just say that I'm glad Frogurt's return was short lived.
I can't figure out why the writers waste time on characters like him when there are so many other important areas to address.
Frogurt resurfacing was shades of Nicky and Paolo.

Frogurt was a red shirt. They needed someone to kill off when they were attacked so it wasn't a main character. He was so annoying that a lot of people probably cheered when he got hit!

In rewatching some of the premiere again, I misheard Sun. When she was talking to Kate and Kate was saying the lawyers came to her door, I thought Sun said, "you have to take care of him"... meaning Aaron. But she said, "You have to take care of THEM", meaning she had to kill the lawyers and the people that were trying to get Aaron. I think she meant that... and I don't think she holds any ill will towards Kate. Jack may not be her favorite person, but I don't think she blames him for Jin's apparent death, either. I think she blames her dad... and either Ben or Widmore. I'm not sure who she is really after... if she's playing Widmore or using him to find Ben.

I also think Sun is sincere when she tells Kate that Kate has been faced with tough decisions and made the right ones... that if she and Jack hadn't gotten on the helicopter when they did, they'd have all died. I think what we're seeing from Sun is that she is now a cold, calculating, down to business type of woman and will do whatever it takes to get what she wants.

the others not being there with Locke threw me as well.

with kate and the lawyers - my first thought was either jack or ben - in order to force her into running and making it possible for her to consider going back, just so she could keep aaron.

I had to laugh when that one scientist came back with a dead hog...all I could do was think he was walking around looking for the ghost of it to know where one was. lol.

You could be right about this Thor.
I just find it odd that Sun arrived in LA and called Kate, right after those lawyers showed up at Kate's house.
However, it doesn't seem to serve any purpose to pit Sun against Kate, story-wise.
Unless they want to instill some tension between Kate and Sun, until Sun realizes (I'm being hopeful here) that Jin is alive.

It's not clear if Sun is after Ben or Widmore yet. I think the reason she is now contacting Kate is to get back in touch with the O6. That tells me she probably really is after Ben, but she doesn't know how to get to him. She figures getting in touch with the other members of O6 will lead her to him. Maybe.

If she was after Widmore, she could get him at any time because she's already made contact with him. She has become like her father, it seems, so she could easily hire someone to take Widmore out.

Ha ha, do hogs have ghosts? :)
