View Full Version : Greetings cards! what do we think?

Hello - bit of a random topic but I'd be interested in your feedback! Greetings cards that I've found here (France) have been very limited and surprisingly expensive. I've actually only found one that was worth (imho) buying. In the UK there is too much choice in a way with all the shops having card stands and the competition pushes up the quality. Just wondered what you discerning folks look for in the cards you send and/or receive. Apart from the kids hand made ones what are your favourites?

Unless I know the person receiving it is into cards, I stick with the bare minimum.
I will only get a fancier card if a card is all I am sending.
Usually when I'm sending a card, I'm sending a check, so I will go for the less fancy card at those times.
The new "musical cards" are kind of cute.
My husband and I got one for our anniversary, and my son gave me one for Mother's Day.

I worked for Hallmark Cards for 10 years, so I'm kind of "crazy" about cards :) I, too, love the new musical cards, even tho they are more expensive, they are fun...my little nieces get a big kick out of getting them. I spend a lot of time perusing the cards and always try to pick "just the right one" for the person I'm sending too...I try to send heartfelt cards to 'older" folks and the funnier cards to 'younger" folks :)

I tend to buy specifically for the person I am thinking of, not generic. I will look a long time for the perfect card if I have to. I love cards, love giving them and love receiving them and think they are very special. Like Liz said, the most special ones are the ones the kids make, they are absolutely delightful. Are we doing Christmas cards here this year?
take care, Penny

I love cards. When I'm buying for my family, it takes me forever to find the perfect card, sometimes I can't even find one that has the just right saying on it. I am into scrapbooking and I thought I would make my own cards this year. This will be a first for me, but if my little pea brain can come up with ideas for scrapbooks, I'm sure I can do a lil ole card, http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/11/11_4_124v.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZUxdm082YYUS)
