View Full Version : New and Improved Profiles!

8.4.08, 6:11 PM
This post has been a long time coming and I apologize for the delay. Some of you have probably noticed the new additions to profiles but in case you haven't, be sure to check it out!

What are those new changes? Now you can:

Create photo albums (http://www.coffeerooms.com/bb/album.php)
Create and/or join a member group (http://www.coffeerooms.com/bb/group.php)
Add friends to your buddy list (http://www.coffeerooms.com/bb/profile.php?do=buddylist)
Comment on profiles

And perhaps the best part is the new, cleaner look. Rather than having all your information on one page, there is a tabbed box so you can now click to view someones comments, about me section, posting stats, friends and contact information!

More in depth discussion on all the new features to follow.

So it's finally here, the ability to share some photos with your coffeerooms friends. It's about time!

To create an album head up to the Quick Links drop down menu that you can find at the top of any forum page. Find and click Edit Options. Once your User Control panel is open, look for the Networking section in the left hand sidebar. There you'll find all your new options including Pictures & Albums. Click that.

A new page will open up. If you haven't posted any photo albums yet, you'll get a box that says:

Click here to add an album and start uploading.

Once you have some photos up, this page will show you your albums.

So click where it says to (or use the Add Album link) and it will open up a page where you will title and add a short description about the album. You will also have the option to show the album to the public, or only make it viewable to your friends here on coffeerooms.

Once you've created a title and description, click submit and it will take you to the upload page. Hit "Click here to upload pictures!" and a new page will open.

You'll find 3 boxes with browse buttons next to them. When you click Browse, it will open up your files so you can select the photograph you want to upload. Once selected, click Open and the file will now appear in the empty space next to the Browse button.

Repeat if you'd like to add 2 more photos to this upload session.

Once you're finished selecting your photos, click Upload Pictures at the bottom of the box. Be patient, this may take a moment if you're uploading larger files.

You will then be taken to a page where you can add a caption to your photos and choose which one you want to for the album cover (found under each photo). Once complete, click Save Changes.

Tada! You've just created your first coffeerooms photo album to share with your friends here.

Also, while viewing the album, you can click on each individual picture for the larger view and the BB code so you can share the shot in the forums!

Enjoy! Get to uploading!

This new feature might be your favorite. Now you can create Social Groups on coffeerooms! What does this mean? Well for example, say your a Passions fan (and I know we have a lot here!) You can now create a group for all your fellow Passions fans to share photographs and post comments. Or maybe you just want a special group for all of your close friends here. Easy! Create a private Social Group and only invite those you want to join.

So here's how:

Head up to the Quick Links drop down menu that you can find at the top of any forum page. Select Edit Options. Once your User Control Panel is open, find the menu in the sidebar on the left called Networks. There you'll see a link called Social Groups.

This will lead you to a page where you can view/join all public groups or create your own.

To join an already existing group, simply click on it's link and once the new page has opened, click Join Group at the top right of the social group box.

To create a group, click Create a New Group on the social groups page. This will take you to a form where you fill in the name of the group and a short description. This is where you also select your group type: public, moderated or invite only.

Public means it is open for anyone to join. Moderated means it's public but the creator of the group moderates group members. Invite only creates a private group where only the moderator of the group is allowed to invite members in.

You will also see the option to enable albums and message here.

Once the group is created you'll be taken to your new group's homepage. Here you'll find the group's info, a member's list, any photos uploaded to the group and the message area.

At the very bottom you'll find Edit Group, Delete Group and Pending & Invited Members.

Click Pending & Invited Members to start inviting friends to your new group.

Have fun!
