My daughter mentioned this while we were watching the other night. Remember back in the first season when it showed Hurley going out in West Texas (or somewhere in the west) to a farm house/cabin & asking to speak to Jacob (at least that's what my daughter remembers) but the old lady said her husband wasn't there. He went there because that was supposed to be where the numbers originated. Could that lady's husband & Jacob be one & the same? I don't have the DVD so I can't check that fact. Anyone check it for me? Thanks!

Hurley traveled to Kalgoorlie, Australia (http://lost.cubit.net/indexView.php?id=91), where he found Sam Toomey's wife, Martha (http://lost.cubit.net/indexView.php?id=207). Martha told Hurley that Sam and Lenny used to serve together in a Navy listening mission in the Pacific. Sam heard the numbers one day, and used them to win a bean guessing game down to the exact number, that had been going on for forty years. Like Hurley, Sam fell into what he believed to be a curse - where he was blessed with good luck, while those around him had incredibly bad luck. Eventually, Sam killed himself to break the perceived curse.
