This is my pet (issue, peeve, project): that national shows that say that they care about what isn't happening in the Katrina ravaged areas around New Orleans and S.E. Mississippi (i.e., "New Orleans") really aren't doing everything that they could about it.
"Ellen" and "Oprah" particularly. If they would just move their shows there for the duration -- until New Orleans is completely fixed and cured of Katrina ills -- the solutions would start coming quickly.
Now Imus has created a perfect storm for this. He doesn't want to loose his show and, aside from the racist, misogynist junk at the center of the current storm, we actually need the open forum that his show mostly is to keep running. On the other hand, he must do some serious and true penance for this dispicable abuse of his privileges.
Move the Imus show to New Orleans. Now. Don't talk about it -- just do it. And keep it there until the City is healed.
Have the mayor on the show ever day that the mayor cares to come on it.
Do Not let that McGurk creep speak on the air ever again -- except to apologize to the mayor and to offer to get coffee for the mayor.
