1. What job have you had that you liked the best?
From 1988-2001 when I worked for a music ministry called "Celebrant Singers." I worked in the home office and we had the best staff. Almost all of that staff are still my closest friends. In fact, we still get together once per quarter to celebrate the birthdays in that quarter. We just had our last one this past Monday night.

2. What job have you had that you liked the least?
My bookkeeping job at First Presbyterian. It was the most stressful job I have ever had. The prior bookkeeper messed up the books so badly and also embezzled, so it was my job to fix her mistakes and it took so long for the pastor and congregation to have trust in me.

3. What is something that others consider "work" that you enjoy?
Planning events. I love to plan parties and gatherings, but many of my friends consider that work.

4. How do you celebrate Labor Day?
My family never did anything big and I still don't. As a kid, we started school the Tuesday following Labor Day, so we were always busy getting last minute things together etc. Now, I just enjoy having Monday off. It's going to be record heat again this weekend, so I'm not going to do much. I am so ready for this summer to be over. We have had 62 days of triple-digit heat and humidity.

5. What aspects of Autumn are you looking forward to?
Fall is my absolute favorite season. I'm looking forward to cooler weather mostly. And of course, good soups and stews on chilly nights.

Weekend plans?
When it gets this hot (110+ tomorrow and Sunday) my friends and I escape to the casino. It's a fun place to hang out and stay cool. It will be crowded, but that means more people to watch. Sunday and Monday, I will watch movies and hang out under the AC.

Thanks, mtj for still posting Five for Friday. I have always enjoyed answering these questions.

1. What job have you had that you liked the best?
During college years, a couple of summers I was a Good Humor Man in the beach towns south of LAX. Remembering it is like something from a "Beach Blanket" movie, if written by Peter Fonda and produced exactly in the style of "Easy Rider".

2. What job have you had that you liked the least?
Around the same time, one summer I sprayed asphalt undercoating on truck campers at the plant where they were made. Gross.

3. What is something that others consider "work" that you enjoy?
Helping folks with their computers.

4. How do you celebrate Labor Day?
Depends on if somebody calls with a broken computer. ;-)

5. What aspects of Autumn are you looking forward to?
Everything. The leaves, crisp air -- but not too cold, the special light in Autumn dusk. (I don't miss the smoke of autumn leaf fires, but do appreciate the smell of the first fireplace fire of the year.)

Weekend plans?
Moping about no bean soup. Bingeing on S4 "TURN" (Revolutionary War spies!)

I miss the smell of Autumn leaf fires. For me, that is one of the most wonderful smells of Fall. I have a small, stone bowl on my patio and I burn leaves in it on cool Fall evenings.

Never would have thought of autumn leaves as incense, but it's kind of brilliant. Very nostalgic.

It's the Pagan blood that flows through my veins.
All things nature that grows, wilts, dies and falls to the ground.
Then you burn it to send it back into the air.
Leaves, wood, etc.
