View Full Version : Selling Furniture

Does anyone know if there is a certain formula for figuring out how to sell used furniture?

I have a leather chair and matching ottoman that is six years old. We paid $2,400 for the set (don't get me started - Agent 86 wouldn't let me get the one I wanted from Pottery Barn!). Any idea on how much I should sell it for? It is in great condition. There are some cat scratches on it which I was able to repair with olive oil and shoe polish (great tip!).

There is a new lounger that I want and Agent 86 said I can't get it until I unload this chair (that I didn't want in the first place)!

I'd look on eBay and craigslist and see what comparable sets are selling for.
I want a new sofa and recliner, will 86 buy them for me? :p

I would either ask for what the lowest amount I am willing to take for an item and said price is firm or go a little higher and say OBO. Unfortunately, furniture re-sale is not worth as much as we would like, but it really does depend on the condition. You should be able to get a nice amount since you got the scratches out.
