I hope that nobody is in danger from the fires, and that nobody has to evacuate. It's gotta be a scary time out west.

Thanks, Melinda. We are already receiving smoke and ash from the fires although I am a couple of hours away from it. My cousin, Barry, his wife and baby boy live in Santa Clarita and have to evacuate. Two of their trees in their yard have burned already, but thankfully, the house is still okay. Pray for their safety and their home to be okay.

My Mom & Dad had to evacuate. In their 80's. Happily they have a wonderful neighbor who insisted that they all get out together yesterday and go to her (the neighbor's) Mom's place outside of the fire area.

Whew!

It huge and it is scary. I posted a real time Google map in an announcement at the top of this board -- and the "Current Events" boards. (http://www.coffeerooms.com/bb/announcement.php?f=50)

Mike are there any other maps like that that you can link to that show the other areas? Since there are still many fires burning north of San Diego County.

Just got word that my good friend, Martin, has had to evacuate due to the fires in San Diego. He works at a retreat center in the mountain area of Julien, CA and the camp was evacuated tonight. I have not been able to contact him, so I'm a bit nervous. Thanks for your prayers.

UPDATE: I just talked to Martin and he's fine and on his way to his parents home. He said it is awful and the whole area looks like a war zone. The retreat center he works at burned from the same type of fire 4 years ago. So, they are all nervous.

Hi Remo!

That map is updated every 15 or 20 minutes (sometimes more). It will actually update itself whenever you refresh the screen.

For the areas north of San Diego in LA county, here's a link to page that for now has a similar map from the LA County Fire Department: http://www.fire.lacounty.gov/

Hope it's helpful.
