View Full Version : Ellen DeGeneres - Oh The Drama
This situation is so damn stupid. Can't the hairdresser's family just arrange to adopt the dog from the agency? And Ellen, weeping on TV about it. Good Lord.
I read about this yesterday and am baffled. Maybe I missed pieces of the story but wonder why a few phone calls wouldn't do the trick. Unfortunately, it seems like bad publicity for the adoption place even though it was probably someone following the rules of the agency. So, it's still going on today?
Apparently so. I just don't understand the problem. So Ellen violated their "rules" by giving the animal away. Why can't the agency let the hairdresser's family adopt the dog. And yeah, totally bad PR for the agency.
Ellen was so distraught! I don't blame her. I think she was fond of the dog and the other family bonded with it too. It's sad to think of a pet being taken away from a loving family. I had tears in my eyes! I don't understand the hoopla from the agency. Just let the family keep the dog.

The dog was given to a good family, so what's the problem? I don't get this agency at all. Please tell me it's a "no kill" place. I'd hate for that poor dog to be put down now that it doesn't have a home. If that's the case, I may storm the agency in protest myself.
Okay, I'm guessing that the agency has the "you can't give the pet away" rule because the pet "could" be given to an unsuitable owner. Bad on Ellen, she should have read what she signed and been aware of the rules. This whole thing was probably avoidable. Ellen could have contacted the agency regarding her plans and they could have "approved" the hairdresser's family. My guess is that it will turn out that way eventually. There is just way too much drama involved in all of this. On the agency's part and on Ellen's part.
Oops, I spoke too soon. I just read something that says the agency will not return the dog to the hairdresser's family. They have deemed them "unsuitable". The article also said that there have been death threats to the agency. The drama continues.

That's crazy, but the "agency" as you say ("Two dames and a pooper scooper" is it's official name, I think), is sure not seeking public approval or respect.
Rules are good and, on the surface at least, theirs seem reasonable.
Unfortunately their follow-through thinking is incomplete and their enforcement is totally off the wall.
Moms-and-Mutts is making their English Setters look like diplomats and rocket surgeons. LOL
I think they may as well close up shop right now, for all the bad PR they're getting.
I read that its because the hairdresser's family has children younger than the age limit rules of the animal agency. They won't allow small dogs to go to homes with children under 14 and the hairdresser has an 11 year old and 13 year old I think I read.
Its all crazy, seriously. Doesn't the world have bigger problems and if the hairdresser's family wants a dog so badly, let them adopt another. There are thousands of dogs who need homes!
I'd be interested to know why a small dog is not allowed to be adopted by a family with children under 14.

I adopted a dog from a no kill shelter earlier this year, and they do specify not to give the dog away if you cannot take care of it, also they do not like to give dogs to families with children under a certain age because they want to make sure that the dog will be taken care of and not abused by young kids who like to drop animals, pull on them left and right, etc. I have 2 boys, 4 and 5- and I think the age for my shelter was under 5 (they were 3 and 4 at the time of adoption) is a no-no but she let me have them because she liked me and knew I wouldnt let my kids do anything, she even met my oldest son and he was carrying the puppy around and she was fine with it. She just wanted to make sure because he was such a small puppy, that my kids werent going to drop him even out of their arms, because they could break their little legs.
I think in this case its just a matter of they didnt follow the rules but I think its pretty messed up that they wont give the family the dog, an 11 and 13 year old are more than responsible enough to love and help care for a pet.
