1. What is your favorite way to celebrate? Big party? Small gathering?
Family gathering. My most favorite thing is a great dinner, then lingering around the table talking and laughing.
2. Tell us about one of your favorite celebrations.
Every Sunday at my grandparents' house in San Francisco's North Beach. 15 people was a small gathering. Huge bowl of macaroni with Italian sausage, salad, sour dough french bread, wine. Loud conversation. The owners of two local restaurants knew us, so either Castignola's or DiMaggios would send over a crate with shell fish....the kitchen where we ate opened onto an alley and the truck would pull in and unload a big crate with live crabs! Or they'd drop off 30 lbs of fresh shrimp, sometimes abalone. I was 20 years old before I discovered that stuff was expensive! You know the speckled metal enameled bowls some people do dishes in? That's what the shellfish was served in, heaped with shrimp or crab. Before dinner (at 2pm) a bunch of the cousins would walk to Fisherman's Wharf or Chinatown and wander. Saw lots of beatniks, which I still deem to be the coolest cats ever.
During the Viet Nam War we'd bring stray servicemen back to eat with the family.
3. How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
I like a family dinner. I'd love to go to a piano bar with my kids & their spouses...my daughter knows the vamps to all the great pop standards by Gershwin, Porter, etc.
4. Do you take days off from work just for you?
Yep; I always have. And I called the school on my kids birthdays and told them "Sam won't be in today; it's his birthday." Then we'd go to the zoo or a movie or whatever they wanted to do.
5. If you could host a special celebration (money is no object)...where would it be, who/what would it be for, and
what kind of shindig would it be?
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! Just a dinner with everyone I love present. But if money is no object, then let's have that dinner at a rented house in Sciacca, Sicily overlooking the bay!
Weekend plans? I'M MOVING BABY! Signed the papers yesterday. Movers come tomorrow; Gus and I hit the road as soon as the movers leave...in my brand new shiny red ScionXD.
1. What is your favorite way to celebrate? Big party? Small gathering?
It depends on what I'm celebrating. My anniversary? Small gathering. My husband's retirement? Big party!
2. Tell us about one of your favorite celebrations.
We celebrated my husband's military retirement in August. It was great-lots of friends and family at our house to help celebrate.
3. How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
Lunch with the ladies, dinner with my family, and cake with the extended family.
4. Do you take days off from work just for you?
You betcha I do. Mental Health days are important!
5. If you could host a special celebration (money is no object)...where would it be, who/what would it be for, and
what kind of shindig would it be?
I would host a week long gathering for all of my family in a tropical location to celebrate nothing other than we are family!
Weekend plans?
Going to watch our HS volleyball team tonight-they are undefeated and are very entertaining. We also hope to watch some HS soccer. Sunday I'm headed out of town for the Elton John concert! Monday is a holiday here and I intend to kick back & enjoy it when I get home.
CONGRATS to you MTJ - wishing you and your loved one all the best! Can't wait to hear about the renewal. :)
1. What is your favorite way to celebrate? Big party? Small gathering?
It depends. I love throwing parties, but usually hate myself about an hour before people arrive :D
2. Tell us about one of your favorite celebrations.
hmmm. Can't bring any particular one to mind.. mad cow, you know (reference from Boston Legal for all that just went "what?")
3. How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
I like to go out, and I like to be made a fuss over. I always fuss over the birthday person (friend or family)
4. Do you take days off from work just for you?
Never. It feels wrong, like I should be doing something with my time.
5. If you could host a special celebration (money is no object)...where would it be, who/what would it be for, and
what kind of shindig would it be?
hmmm... the phrase "Money is No Object" does not compute :D
Weekend plans?
Cleaning in the morning, running errands for my son's birthday party. They will play @ home a bit, then I'm taking them all to a movie, then back for pizza, cake and ice cream. Sunday will probably have a friend and her family over for supper, because I'm a glutton for dishes....
Congrats on your vow renewal!

Have a great weekend, mtj and enjoy your renewal celebration.
1. What is your favorite way to celebrate? Big party? Small gathering?
I like big parties. Wanna know why? I'm somewhat shy and you can blend in at a big party easier than you can at a small gathering.
2. Tell us about one of your favorite celebrations.
It had to be our family reunion in 1993. Over 100 were present and it was held at one of my cousins house. (big house, of course). We danced until the wee hours of the morning, both young and old and I just have such happy memories of that day.
3. How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
I usually go out to dinner with my mom and some close friends, but honestly, I prefer staying home, having people over and eating cake.
4. Do you take days off from work just for you?
Not often enough, but I do. I have called in sick, just because and called it a "mental health day".
5. If you could host a special celebration (money is no object)...where would it be, who/what would it be for, and
what kind of shindig would it be?
It would be a fiesta at our timeshare resort in Puerto Vallarta (money is no object, so I dream big). I would take my closest friends and family. The resort puts on a great fiesta and the food and drinks are awesome.
Weekend plans?
It's our Harvest Festival this weekend, so I'm going to the fair tomorrow.
1. What is your favorite way to celebrate? Big party? Small gathering?
I like a little of both. Depending on the occasion. My first wedding, big blow out and it was fantastic. If I ever get married again it'll be smaller.
2. Tell us about one of your favorite celebrations.
The baby shower for my daughter. It was amazing to think this little life was coming into the world.
3. How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
I like to do something big for big birthdays, something small for regular ones. This year I'm headed to the FL Keys with some girlfriends for my 40th. Just booked the trip yesterday. Considering its in February, it should be a great time!
4. Do you take days off from work just for you?
Absolutely!
5. If you could host a special celebration (money is no object)...where would it be, who/what would it be for, and
what kind of shindig would it be?
It would be a true NE lobster/clambake right on the beach on the South Shore of MA. Reason would be to just celebrate life, family and friends. I'd fly in all my relatives and friends. We'd eat and play and swim and when the sun went down we'd roast marshmellows and sing to the stars.
Weekend plans?
Just running here and there. Soccer game tomorrow AM, decorating the house for Halloween, skating on Sunday.
1. What is your favorite way to celebrate? Big party? Small gathering?
**I really prefer smaller gatherings, but with the size of my family, it there never really is a small gathering. :)
2. Tell us about one of your favorite celebrations.
**Oh, I don't know...all the birthday's last year were fun.
Thanksgiving was great...Christmas was excellent.
3. How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
**"Small" family gathering.
4. Do you take days off from work just for you?
**I haven't in the past, but I think I need to.
5. If you could host a special celebration (money is no object)...where would it be, who/what would it be for, and
what kind of shindig would it be?
**I think I'd like to throw a huge combo-birthday party for the kids. DJ, dancing, "open bar" so to speak, just something completely fun and completely for them.
Weekend plans?
Haning out with the kids. The OU/Texas game is tomorrow, so I'll be watching that. And "The Race" (Talladega) is on Sunday, and I'll be watching that.
1. What is your favorite way to celebrate? Big party? Small gathering?

**I love Thanksgiving
3. How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
**With my husband and kids
