1. What are your earliest memories of rock and roll?

The earliest memory I have is when I was four or five and my mom was doing the ironing in the living room and was watching "American Bandstand." I think Fabian lip-synched. Much later I remember my older girl cousins getting excited because The Beatles were going to be on TV. I remember being smitten when I first saw Petula Clark on TV singing "Downtown" -- and that was the first album I ever bought. (Or got my dad to buy for me.)

2. What group did you see at your first rock concert?
The first concert I went to was to see Jimi Hendrix :wow:! It was 1968 and I had just started the 9th grade. The concert was at the Baltimore Civic Center and I took a Trailways bus from Fairfax, Va, by myself. None of my friends were allowed to go (there was a recent furor about rock shows because of Jim Morrison's arrest at a concert by The Doors in Miami) -- to this day I can't figure out why my parents let me go....

3. Have you ever met a famous musician? If not, which one would you like to meet? (Go ahead Agent, tell your story, I dare you)

No.

Frank Zappa if he were still alive.

4. Do you still have any LPS? If so, what are they?

Sure. All kinds. Kingston Trio to The Clash and back again.

5. Who do you think is the best rock and roll group ever?

I'd say it's a three-way tie between The Rolling Stones, The Who and The Police.

Weekend plans?

Watching my Louisville Cardinals crush the Syracuse Orange tomorrow and catching up on the Rugby World Cup. Sunday, going to my mom's for a barbecue and to watch the Skins play the NY Giants.

1. What are your earliest memories of rock and roll?
The Beatles. I was given my first Beatles album when I was 3 years old. I loved Ringo!
2. What group did you see at your first rock concert?
It had to be Little River Band in 1982.
3. Have you ever met a famous musician? If not, which one would you like to meet? (Go ahead Agent, tell your story, I dare you)
I wanna hear Agent's story. I've met musicians, but not famous rock stars. I've met Jim Brickman and 3 guys from Il Divo. Oh, and Jeff Timmons from 98 Degrees.
4. Do you still have any LPS? If so, what are they?
I have several. Little River Band, Duran Duran, Thriller :anon2d:
5. Who do you think is the best rock and roll group ever?
Again, The Beatles!
Weekend plans?
No big plans this weekend. I'm just so glad it's Friday.

1. What are your earliest memories of rock and roll? My earliest memories are definitely of the family dancing around in the living room to bands like Talking Heads and the Beatles.
2. What group did you see at your first rock concert? Pink Floyd!
3. Have you ever met a famous musician? If not, which one would you like to meet? I met the VooDoo Daddies, Cherry Poppin Daddies and Indigo Swing
4. Do you still have any LPS? If so, what are they? I don't but my bro and parents have plenty for me to borrow :winkq:
5. Who do you think is the best rock and roll group ever? This is truly a very difficult question for me to answer. I have so much love for so many bands. I throw out the typical Beatles though. Just because.

Weekend plans?WORK! Bleh. Work work work work. Yay theatre!

1. What are your earliest memories of rock and roll?
Watching the first appearance of The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964.

2. What group did you see at your first rock concert?
I saw Lee Michaels and Jo Jo Gunne. And I'm sure none of you know who they are. My second concert was Alice Cooper and I was 13. I have been a fan of his forever.

3. Have you ever met a famous musician? If not, which one would you like to meet? (Go ahead Agent, tell your story, I dare you)
LOL! I have met many, many rock stars because I used to work in rock radio and at MTV. I can't tell my story because Mr. Henley made me sign a gag order. I've never met Bruce and I'd love to. I just got tix this morning for his concert.

4. Do you still have any LPS? If so, what are they?
LOL! I have about 50 boxes of LPs in the basement and I'll never get rid of them.

5. Who do you think is the best rock and roll group ever?
It's a tie between The Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Two very different sounds and both pioneers.

Weekend plans? Going through my LPs in the basement. LOL!

Jimi Hendrix? That is beyond cool.

Chas, gold stars to your parents. Mine never would have allowed it and I'm guessing my kids would say the same thing... I wa pretty loose, but not at age 9.

oops, I just reread and now I see it was 9th grade, not 9 years old. Lets see, is that about 14? I might have gone for it, but I probably would have taken them. I know I would if it was to see Jimi ;)

Okay, I am dying at the idea that Annie thought Chas's parents let him take a bus from Virginia to Baltimore at age 9.
That would be total Jimi worship.

1. What are your earliest memories of rock and roll?
In the second grade, my teacher used to let us bring in records to play on the record player. I brought in The Beatles Rubber Soul. The girls in my class brought in Shaun Cassidy, the boys brought in Kiss. Everyone but the teacher thought I was weird for my taste in music. They eventually caught up to me.
2. What group did you see at your first rock concert?
I was in 7th grade, Rick Springfield with opening act The Greg Kihn Band. How's that for cheese?
3. Have you ever met a famous musician? If not, which one would you like to meet? (Go ahead Agent, tell your story, I dare you)
I went to high school with the former drummer of Vertical Horizon he's a Doobie Brother now. That is the extend of my "famous" musicians. I'd would have loved to have met John Lennon or Jerry Garcia, imagine the tales those two could tell.
4. Do you still have any LPS? If so, what are they?
We finally had to get rid of all LPs, they were damaged by a flood in our basement. We had Beatles, Stones, Who, Clash, Grateful Dead.
5. Who do you think is the best rock and roll group ever?
Too hard to choose just one, so I throw out these....The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, The Clash. All innovators, all ahead of their time.
Weekend plans?
Not much. Carting the kids to various activities, catching up on laundry, watching baseball.
TGIF everyone, have a great weekend.

1. What are your earliest memories of rock and roll?
I don't remember not having rock n roll around me. Much older sibs were into it in the '50s and I have memories of songs that were popular when I was 3 or 4.

2. What group did you see at your first rock concert?
Mildly embarrassed to admit that it was Donovan. Complete with pillows for him to sit on, on stage. And some caftan thing that he wore. Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind... I was had just turned 15.

3. Have you ever met a famous musician? If not, which one would you like to meet? (Go ahead Agent, tell your story, I dare you)
Quite a few... see Agent's answer re: doing radio.

4. Do you still have any LPS? If so, what are they?
Loads. But I couldn't begin to tell you what they are, beyond a pristine, unopened set of all the Beatles albums (music director perk from radio days).

5. Who do you think is the best rock and roll group ever?
I have to say the Beatles. John stole my heart when I was 12 and I haven't been the same since.

Weekend plans? Work tomorrow and birthday party for my father in law (85!) on Sunday. Lots of in-laws will be there, lots of food and loads of fun.

(ps-thankyouthankyouthankyou to mtj for keeping us in fives the last several months. give that girl a double margarita, stat!)

1. What are your earliest memories of rock and roll?
My most beautiful babysitter Carmelita teaching me to do "the bop" to Don't be Cruel.

2. What group did you see at your first rock concert?
I've never been to a rock concert because I HATE loud noise, music or otherwise. First live performance: In a coffee house . . . blues veterans Sonnie Terry and Brownie McGhee.

3. Have you ever met a famous musician? If not, which one would you like to meet? (Go ahead Agent, tell your story, I dare you)
Agent has a story? I want to hear it. I've never met anyone famous but I went to high school with Patti of Tuck & Patti, a jazz duo. I was good friends with a concert pianist, Karen Hutchison. Can't think of a musican I'd like to meet.

4. Do you still have any LPS? If so, what are they?
No LPs...lost them in a divorce years ago.

5. Who do you think is the best rock and roll group ever?
I'm kind of a rock and roll purist, so Jerry Lee Lewis and his band. If I stretch my deifnition of rock & roll then The Beatles.

Weekend plans? Sold most of what I was going to sell of my furniture, today I donated the last two pieces to Salvation Army. So this weekend I'm finishing up the last of my packing and moving the lawn chair inside to sit on.
