Finally, a reality show with a point. I think this show may be very motivating to people who would like to lose weight. I was just looking at the before and after pictures and they are amazing.

It just proves that it can be done with diet and exercise if you stick to it. My cousin had gastric bypass and yes, she's lost 125 lbs and is thin, but she's lost her hair, her skin sags terribly and she's constantly in the bathroom.
I need to watch this show and look at those pictures daily to keep me on track.

Kris - you might be interested in this. I just recently met this woman. She lives near me. She has a book out and it's available through Amazon.com. It's called "How I Lost 170 Pounds With the Help of God, Family, and Family Circle Magazine. by Sandra Dalka-Prysby. She's a freelance writer and writer for Family Circle. She's a hoot! I think she worked with Richard Simmons on the book. You might like it.

Everyone I know who has had gastric bypass has had major complications and has gained the weight back. I don't believe in that procedure.

I do really like this show and the before/after pictures are amazing. But what they don't tell you is that the quickness of their weight loss isn't acheivable for the average person. They do it in 3 months because they are working out 4-5 hours a day and their eating is monitored.

I do love the show though and I do think its really motivating and it stresses the important basics of healthy living. I was watching it while on the treadmill at the gym last night so it did keep me going those extra 10 minutes. ;)

Well, it's true that if Jillian would move into my house for 2 months I could absolutely drop these extra pounds. But I think the strength of the show is two fold:#1. It isn't magic..it is diet and exercise and self control. #2. Although the eventual winner has their diet monitored and is doing intensive exercise for the duration of the show, the people sent home have to continue to do it on their own and the amazing thing is that they do it and they succeed...that's the part that convinces me, "This is do-able."

Oh, it would be a bad idea if Jillian moved into my house.
Very bad.
For Jillian.
Really. http://209.85.12.231/2117/188/emo/kickass.gif

Thanks for posting about the show. I hadn't realized that it started already. We were on vacation last week and I missed the first eppy but am looking forward to catching it this week. I was a fan last year but I am definitely looking forward to Ali being the host this year. The show is so inspiring. I figure if they can lose that much weight, I should be able to lose the 15-20 I need to lose.
