News & Teasers
Scoop Section #1: Drop-Zone
Proving wrong the stereo-type supported by her mother, that all Bay City female citizens under 35 aren’t that bright,
Alli has an instant reaction to Cam -- a BAD instant reaction. She hates him on sight. With Alli in town, and believing
Cam to be an incredibly bad influence on her naïve mother, C/Am are forced to postpone their elopement, and
decide to have a huge family wedding on Valentine’s Day. Sparky (AKA David) finds an unusual ally in Alli, who,
like he, thinks Cam is a real jerk, and he decides he needs to get to know this new Cory a little better. (Hopefully
he doesn’t decide that Alli is the woman of his dreams.) After his attempts to hypnotize Amanda fail, Sparky concentrates
on making Alli his latest pawn. (I’m wondering if maybe Alli won’t push for her mother and Sparky to get together
-- anything to save Amanda from yet another guy who doesn’t even love her enough to be honest with her.)
Scoop Section #2: Luminoids on the Loose
Zak makes his monthly appearance as a non-contract character, and we see he and Lila shooting the breeze. She’s
a little put out that no matter what she does for Sparky, he keeps wanting more. Cass, stalking Lila as always,
overhears this conversation. Of course, Lila isn’t too put off from Sparky -- when she finds out that Sofia wrote
Mate a letter, she asks Sparky to help her out again. After putting Mate back in the magic chair, the light is
suddenly back in their Luminated relationship. Of course, when Lila and Cass argue about the letter, he tells her
that this is just yet one more example that Mate will never love her the way he loved Sofia, and Mate could NEVER
love Lila the way that Cass does. Even though Mate has been Luminized, Lila can’t give herself completely to him
because she’s still obsessing over Cass.
Scoop Section #3: "I’ll Be That Girl" (Barenaked
Ladies, "Stunt")
Tyrone will be playing a huge role in this storyline, as MarLie’s LAWYER! Jake is less than pleased to discover
that Tyrone, his co-conspirator in the "Let’s Get MarLie" campaign, has turned sides. Tyrone, though,
is filled with guilt, believing that if he’d only seen the signs when he and MarLie had first met, he could somehow
have changed the outcome of things. He KNEW MarLie was unstable. MarLie’s warming a jail cell at the moment, waiting
for her arraignment, when Jake brings Donna in to see her, and to get a few more jabs in. He discovers that Tyrone
is planning on going for an insanity plea, and he is furious. He has only one thing to say to MarLie when she asks
about Vic (well, only one thing polite enough to repeat) -- she can never do anything worth forgiveness, but if
she wants to make amends in some small way, she should turn over the tape of Grant’s confession. (Isn’t there a
time limit on arson charges?) Joe and Jake are trying to figure out who really shot Grant, but Tyrone won’t allow
MarLie to answer any questions. The police turn their backs for a few seconds (or, knowing the BCPD, they all went
home for supper), and MarLie escapes. But instead of leaving town, she goes to the hospital. She has to know that
Vic is alright, and that she forgives her. Vic tells her that she doesn’t know if she’ll ever be able to forgive
her, and MarLie is losing what little hold on reality she had left. (Of course, she ends up back in the clink.)
Grant goes to see MarLie to try to convince her to give him the tape, promising that he, the esteemed mayor of
Bay City, will be able to keep her out of jail. (If Grant was OUR mayor, we’d’ve kicked him out of office by now.)
He reminds her that Jake hates her, and that handing the tape to HIM (Jake) isn’t going to help her out at all,
but MarLie basically tells Grant to shove it. She doesn’t care what happens to her, and thinks that if maybe she
goes to jail and pays for what she did, she might be able to forgive herself, since it’s obvious no one else is
willing to (excepting Tyrone and Donna).
Scoop Section ??: "Error"!
My computer experienced a brain fart, so I lost most of my file here. So I’m trying to recall the rest from memory.
Vicky, etc: Tyrone has MarLie transferred out of the jail, and committed to a "special" hospital. Vic’s
fighting for her life, but she recovers just in time to go to MarLie’s arraignment.
Tito, Remy, etc: Joe finds a letter that Tito has written to Paulina. Nick is suspicious of Tito, and accuses Remy
of helping him run a con. Remy denies it, and Nick starts digging up dirt on Tito. He’s about to go to Paulina
and Remy is talking to Joe about "Tito the Scam Artist" (she blew a loop when she saw them talking),
when Tito, not wanting to give up the cushy deal he has with Paulina, admits to her that he’s not the world’s best
citizen. Paulina forgives him, and offers him a place to live.
Over-40 crowd: Rachel and Cass fight about Lumina’s role in Matt’s marriage, then she goes back to sculpting Jordan’s
head. (I wonder if she’ll sculpt Sparky without his scars?) Felicia has a misadventure with her new chauffeur Sergei.
Casting News
Anna Kathryn Holbrook will be back as Sharlene for a few shows at the end of February. No word yet on what Sharlene’s
doing back in town, but apparently there’s a major family crisis going down. (I’d bet my sixth thumb that it’s
about Dozie’s baby -- who, oddly enough, didn’t merit even ONE scoop this week.)
Sharp is scheduled to start as Jonathan on January 20, but due to pre-emptions, AW has been a day behind for awhile.
Eventually the scoops will catch up with the showing dates, but until then, it’s likely that many things will happen
a day later than expected.
Casting Rumors (completely, 100% unconfirmed, all e-mail
donated)
Paul Korver (sp?) from the new CHiPs (?) movie will be joining the BC cast in the future. No word on the role,
but even more rumors claim he’s another long-lost Hudson...or two.
Rhonda Ross Kendrick has been taken off contract and will soon leave BC.
This one comes with two different names -- either Kimberlin Brown from B&B and Y&R will show up for a few
eps at the end of February, or Kimberly Brown from GL will.
Lisa Peluso will be leaving her role of Lila to be in a movie. The role will be recast while she is gone but they
look forward to Lisa resuming her role when she returns.
AW in the Ratings
The week before Christmas puts AW at 2.53, but there has been a rating flying around the ‘Net that puts AW at 3.0
the week AFTER Christmas. If this is true, then it could mean great things for AW. (Or it could mean that people
had more time than usual on their hands, and actually WATCHED it live and remembered it later.)
AW Actors on Other Shows
Danny Markel (one of the Sam Fowlers) will show up in Oakdale (ATWT) as David on January 12 and 13. Christina Tucci
(Amanda #4) and Lisa Brenner (Maggie #5) will show up on the "Chicago Hope" ep "Adventures in Babysitting",
to air January 13. Alicia Coppola (Lorna #1) will be on ABC’s "Sports Night" on January 12.
For anyone who hasn’t seen "The Parent Trap" or "Armageddon" yet, they’re worth checking out
for their AW alumni. Lohan does an excellent job as Hallie and Annie in TPT (IMHO, one of the movies few redeeming
qualities -- anyone think these had to be the world’s worst parents?), and Grayson McCouch was...well, let’s just
say he was interesting in A. He doesn’t have a huge role, but it’s worth a look-see. The movie was surprisingly
better than I thought it would be, and made a milestone as my first Ben Affleck flick.
Rants & Raves
Rants: The character
who shoots Remy will be my new god. This character has gone from interesting, to tolerable, to so dang annoying
she beats Dozie out in my "can’t stand" books. Thursday’s ep was particularly bad. She’s willing to have
Nick find out about her past. What’s so bad with telling him who Tito really was? If Nick knew about Tito and Remy’s
previous relationship, he’d be a lot more understanding. Etta Mae...argh. I’m sorry, but she was way out of line
this week. I understand how she feels, but calling MarLie a bony-moroney in front of her own mother is like the
old adage about doing something nasty in your host’s living room. She had no right to do what she did, or say what
she did. Jake also made my rant this week -- what kind of amnesiac is he lately? Not only did he completely deny
history viewers know to be true (only loving Vicky), but he forgets that while MarLie might have "almost"
ruined his life, he did ruin her. What he did to her was far worse than anything she ever did to him. (Him, not
Vicky.)
Raves: Buchanan
and Wheeler were well-worth every day of tape they got from me this week. Buchanan was riveting in her performance,
especially with MarLie on the ledge, but Wheeler stole the show as MarLie, both pre-arrest and post-arrest. I can’t
wait to see how this plays out, especially with some of the previews I’ve heard. As for Tito, I can tell I’ve spent
far too much time around younger male relatives. I wanted to deck Remy when she sent him out of her apartment in
tears. He can live with me. Sure, I’ll lock up the silver and hide my wallet, but he just looked so...forlorn.
Although I’m still on the fence about Crane’s Matt, I got a kick out of Zak’s little Vulcan doo-hickey thing. Great
way to keep Matt in line -- pinch his neck when he gets bad. As for Sparky’s new role...he’s cute, he’s interesting,
and it’s better than watching C/Am and J/Ary.
February Sweeps
These are all unconfirmed rumors (well, some are semi-confirmable), but I thought you might get a kick out of some
of them.
C/Am & J/Ary
The @#$% is going to hit the fan in February when the truth comes out about who REALLY fathered Dozie’s baby. (Anyone
want to bet this happens at C/Am’s wedding?) Sharlene will come to town to pick up Dozie’s pieces after her marriage
to Gary falls apart. Gary, meanwhile, will be tempted to go downtown, power a few brews and scope some Bettys (sorry
-- flashback to the late eighties -- it just sounded better than "get foxed and pick up chicks"), but
he’s worked too hard to stay sober. C/Am’s relationship will be severely tested by Cam’s lies about Dozie’s baby,
but that’s not their biggest problem.
Luminized Corys
By the end of the February sweeps, Lila will have made her choice -- Mate, or Cass? Unfortunately, a higher power
may have a hand in making that choice for her. Sparky continues his quest to win Amanda as David Halliday, and
he will be instrumental in the truth coming out about Dozie’s little nipper. Alli will continue to play a big part
in Sparky’s schemes.
Baby Go Bye
Paulina’s big secret will come out soon, and it’s even worse than giving up her baby at 16. Giving her baby a better
life wasn’t her only sin when she was 16. The baby’s father will somehow be involved in the secret, as will Paulina’s
true motives for giving up her baby. It will come out that Tito isn’t Paulina’s child, but by this time, Tito has
learned something about love, and he isn’t ready to give up Paulina without a fight. She may not be his real mother,
but she’s the closest he’s ever had. Look for Nick and Remy’s relationship to hit a few bumps when Remy’s lies
blow up in her face.
Attack of the ’80’s Re-Runs
The trouble isn’t over for Vic yet. No, she’s not going to be kidnapped again. Now that MarLie’s actions have come
to light, the big question is: Why? What made MarLie go completely ape and kidnap her own twin? No one will be
safe from the tidal wave of reality that hits Bay City when all of MarLie’s crimes are revealed, and everyone starts
wondering what happened to change MarLie from Miss Perfect 1985 to Miss Psycho 1998.
A Love Thang
Felicia will be getting involved with her chauffeur, Sergei, in a way that’s far more intimate than she probably
SHOULD be getting involved with him. He’ll pull her into a front-burner storyline that will finally give her more
to do that listen to Cass complain about his lack of sex life.
Sparky’s Secret
Dozie isn’t the only reason that Sharlene is coming to town. A HIGHLY unconfirmed rumors intimates that Alice Barrett
Mitchell will be coming to town as a con artist working for Jordan Stark. He’s had her altered through plastic
surgery, and her job is to convince Cass that she is his presumed dead wife, so that he’ll stay away from Lila
and out of Stark’s business. She’ll soon be revealed to be a con artist, but will it be soon enough?
