Monday Moment - Memories

Gypsy and The Great Went (by RGP)

I'm having a difficult day.  I'm not stressed out, just a little concerned.  The job I was supposed to start this weekend, well it doesn't exist.  Turns out my next gig isn't until the end of February.

This happened back in August too. Except back in August, they called me a few weeks later to say they'd changed their minds.  That won't be the case this time.

What to take note of?  My first reaction was relief.  There's nothing I'd rather do than stay at home and work on my writing, figure out a plan for selling my photographs one of these days and basically just do what I want to do.

Financially it's a little painful.  Emotionally it's just what I need.

It also helps to know I'm not alone.  The unemployed love company too.

My second reaction was a random slip down memory lane.  As if some sort of instinct took over, I grabbed for my old photo albums.  When I found this shot I had taken back in 1997 at The Great Went, I gasped a little.

Back then I paid no attention to composition, lighting, etc.  I just wanted to grab moments so I would never forget them. Big picture moments. I remember taking this and wanting to capture the sea of tents.  They went on for literally miles and the colors were spectacular.

I would also like to point out that for most of the weekend it rained making this a rare shot.  So much so that the band had laid the walkways with rocks near the main tents in the center so we didn't have to trudge through the mud.

It reminds me of what it was like to take things day by day.  To relax.  To enjoy what you can and when you can.  To make memories.

So rather than mope about and worry about how I'll pay the bills, I'll take the unexpected time off to explore, get out, concentrate on me and take in the whole big picture.

What's your "Monday Moment"?  No anyone that might be interested in sharing theirs?  Send them my way!

First of all, it's going to be fine. Definitely a blessing in disguise. And maybe your other half can hold the fort for a week or two.

Second, OMG! That photo! I think, considering the event, the fact that it's a little blurry may be appropriate. But who is that redhead? LOL, he must have been 15 or maybe 16 then? Is this the trip with April and Rob? Wrong boyfriend? I'm glad you have some shots of it all.

I'm glad to see you are seeing the silver lining through the clouds.
Maybe I should try this Monday Moments thing...or maybe a different day of the week. Mondays are hard for me to get through....
